Almanor
History & Facts
Located just 35 miles from
the towering Mt. Lassen, one of America's few active volcanoes, Lake
Almanor was conceived and created in 1914 by
Wester
Power Company as a water reserve.
The name Almanor was named
after Guy Earl's (one of the founding investors) three daughters - Alice,
Martha and Eleanor.
Lake Almanor offers over
52 miles of shoreline with crystal clear bluewater, and a summer water
temperature of 70 degrees. At 4,500-ft elevation, the 4-season climate
offers every type of sport: fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking and snowmobiling.
There are also three golf courses in the area.
